Scottsdale's Monterra event venue at WestWorld reopened Oct. 23 as a fully climate-controlled, city-operated space after renovations that added heating and cooling, a new roof and accessibility upgrades.
City officials and WestWorld partners marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting and open house at the venue, which sits at 16601 N. Pima Road, the Scottsdale Independent reported.
It is the first time the city has operated Monterra since the venue opened in 1990.
The venue had run under a private operating agreement for more than three decades. The Scottsdale City Council voted in November 2024 to bring operating rights back to the city, according to a city press release. The city now manages Monterra as a rental facility within WestWorld of Scottsdale.
Before reopening, crews installed a new heating and cooling system and roof, replaced indoor and outdoor flooring, painted the interior and exterior, and upgraded restrooms to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. The city has not disclosed the total cost of the renovation.
City Manager Greg Caton said in the press release that bringing Monterra back under city operation allows Scottsdale to make better use of a community asset. He said the improvements expand what WestWorld can offer year-round for local celebrations and the complex's signature events.
The space is different from WestWorld's other facilities. WestWorld Director Cassie Johnson said the updated climate-control system and refreshed spaces allow the venue to host guests in every season.
The venue features a ballroom with a full bar, three outdoor function spaces and patios overlooking the WestWorld polo field toward the McDowell Mountains.
M Culinary Concepts, WestWorld's food and beverage partner, provides exclusive catering and bar service.
Daily rental rates are $3,000 Thursday through Sunday and $750 Monday through Wednesday. The City Council approved those rates in September as a one-year pilot informed by a market study of comparable venues.
Residents can book the space by calling WestWorld's sales manager at 480-312-6815.
