Scottsdale Community College's men's soccer team carries a 12-game losing streak into a Region 1 semifinal against Phoenix College. The fourth-seeded Artichokes visit the top-seeded Bears on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m.

SCC (6-10, 6-8 ACCAC) faces Phoenix College (13-1 in conference) in the postseason for the third consecutive year, according to SCC athletics. The Bears have won all 12 meetings since SCC's last victory, a 2-1 home win on Sept. 19, 2019. Ten of those 12 Phoenix College wins were shutouts.

Phoenix College enters the semifinal as the defending NJCAA national champion. The Bears captured their first national title in December 2025, finishing that season 22-1-1 under head coach David Cameron, according to Phoenix College.

This fall has been more of the same. Phoenix College clinched its third consecutive ACCAC Conference Championship on Oct. 17 with a 9-0 rout of Chandler-Gilbert Community College, according to PC Bears athletics. At that point, the Bears had outscored opponents 27-0 over four straight shutouts.

"Winning three consecutive conference championships takes more than talent," Cameron said after the ACCAC title win. "It takes players who show up every day, hold themselves accountable and believe in something greater than themselves."

SCC closed its regular season with a 6-1 loss to Pima on Saturday, Oct. 24. The Aztecs scored five first-half goals before the Artichokes mounted second-half pressure, finishing with 14 shots. Colvin Chandler scored SCC's lone goal off an assist from Derek Moran late in the match. The SCC athletics site placed the goal in the 80th minute; the Arizona Daily Independent reported it in the 78th.

Despite the lopsided regular-season finale, SCC advances to the playoffs for the third straight year. The Artichokes' last win over Phoenix College came seven years ago.

The other Region 1 semifinal Thursday sends No. 3 Pima (11-2-1) to No. 2 Glendale (11-2-1). Kickoff for SCC at Phoenix College is 6 p.m.
